NRO's Mike Ledeen chronicles signs of rising popular discontent in Iran, China and North Korea. That there is vast unrest in Iran and China is hardly news. But in Pyongyang? BIG news. Riots after a soccer match. Mike urges that the US speak up more forcefully, and take modest human rights measures to help topple the regimes. Given how little help we are getting (none, actually) from China re North Korea, given that Iran meddled in the Iraqi insurgency, and that the North's latest gambit is to shut down a reactor as prelude to building more nukes, WHAT THE HELL ARE WE WAITING FOR? There is a hat trick to go for: three free countries.
Meanwhile what does the Senate Foreign Relations Committee worry about? Some termite crawls out of the woodwork at the proverbial eleventh hour and says that a decade ago US Ambassador to the UN-designate John Bolton yelled at her. Democrats, plus one Republican who acts like a Democrat, are aghast. Oh well, as Will Rogers once said: "I don't belong to an organized political party. I am a Democrat."
Mike Ledeen: "Now, please."
