Libertarian Doug Bandow informs us that yesterday marked Cost of Government Day, which represents the 53.9% of national income consumed by federal and state government taxes and regulation; the latest ever was in 1982, before the Reagan tax cuts took hold, when July 23 was COGD. Tax Freedom Day this year was April 23. Bandow gives details.
