What can TPers learn from a failed bomb plot?....

The multi-city cargo-plane bomb plot engendered a collective sigh of relief from denizens of the civilized portions of the globe.  As well it should, for it was intended to cause an air explosion over England, reminiscent of the 1988 Lockerbie atrocity that destroyed PanAm #103 over Scotland & took 270 lives--including 11 killed by falling aircraft debris.  As new entrants into politics, with tomorrow's final voting day ratifying the seismic impact TPers have had on domestic politics, it is time for TPers to add a focus on foreign affairs, in the run-up to the BIG ONE: ELECTION 2012.

Lacking time for a long spiel on myriad issues that LFTC will cover as they unfold over the next two years, for now I'll make two tutelary points oft missed by leaders.  First: Terror plots of major magnitude are almost always aided, at times literally sponsored, by terror states.

This plot spanned several countries and involved multiple cargo & passenger aircraft, with highly sophisticated explosives that were able to pass through airport screening.  Look then for the hand of terror states in this plot.

Second: Terrorists may employ poor, uneducated mules or dupes, but the people planning the operations and those carrying out any kind of complex operational plan are almost invariably highly educated and of at least middle class, and often rich economic background.

How come?  Because the world's poor & dispossessed are too busy trying to survive day to day to take the considerable leisure time required to study terror ideology & develop the motivation to learn operational techniques.  Conversely, universities are the ideal breeding ground for terror candidates: students often imbibe radical ideologies, even in the United States.  Data from countless terror trials in the Western countries over the past forty years confirm these elementary facts.

Liberals simply do not grasp this, imprisoned by ideology.  Dilettante candidates of whatever philosophical persuasion can easily miss these truths.

Bottom Line.  Tea Partiers need to supplement their ideological predilection for a strong, America engaged overseas with enough basic knowledge to credibly explain these issues, citing facts readily understandable to independent voters who will not follow a TP ideology.
